Finding Order in Chaos

This body of work came directly out of the pandemic. At first, I didn’t really understand why I was making it. Now, over a year later, I understand why…therapy. When the pandemic started, I was working on fictitious images based in concept. When the pandemic hit and the streets were silent, my reality felt like fiction and I had to pause the pre-pandemic work. While taking my son on drives in industrial zones, the desolate landscape spoke to me and it felt right to reflect on in a painting. The process of sorting out the chaotic abundance of information was calming. It gave me a feeling of “If I can sort this mess out, nothing is too chaotic to get through”.
